GamblingLess: In-The-Moment

An app that is designed to provide 24/7 support to help users take immediate steps to address their gambling behavior

The research team at Deakin University and the University of Auckland wanted to create a relapse prevention app for problem gamblers that uses in-the-moment information about users’ urges, triggers, and expectations, to prevent gambling episodes. The challenge was to create an app that can tailor interventions according to users’ changing needs using the most up-to-date advances in intervention science.

Using Cogniss, the team created an app that provides ‘in-the-moment’ assistance to problem gamblers who would like to overcome the risk of relapse.

This app is being funded by the NSW government.
